D'Valda & Sirico
In 1979 the adagio team of D’Valda & Sirico was formed and went on to appear in cities around the country as a featured act. In 1981 they performed at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas where French agent, Bernard Hilda, booked them into a show in Madrid for a six month contract. They continued to perform in shows and on T.V. in Spain, France, Sweden, Switzerland, Finland and Italy. During their contract at the Casino Estoril in Portugal they were asked by Wayne Sleep, formerly principal with the Royal Ballet Company to join his company of “Dash” as guest artists. They accepted and enjoyed a wonderful season at the Dominion Theatre in London. They returned to the States for a short vacation prior to appearing in Monte Carlo in 1987 and were presented with the opportunity to purchase Mikki Williams’ studio, A Dance Class, in Fairfield, Connecticut. So in the fall of 1987 the D’Valda & Sirico Dance Centre opened it’s doors. Now in it’s fifteenth year, the studio continues to prosper both in size and achievements. Within the past few years the D’Valda & Sirico Dance Company has won numerous awards and honors including invitations to appear at the Kuopio Dance Festival in Finland, Disneyland Paris and the Oyster Festival in Norwalk. The Company was chosen as one of only four companies worldwide to perform at the 1997 Silver Jubilee Aberdeen International Youth Festival in Aberdeen, Scotland. The first company from Connecticut ever to be invited and one of only a handful from the United States to ever attend in the twenty five year history of the festival. The studio is also well represented by former students performing and teaching both nationally and abroad. Angela and Steve maintain a rigorous travel schedule performing, coaching, teaching and judging. They have taught Master Classes in Adagio, Jazz and Ballet in England, Spain, France, Hong Kong and throughout the United States. Angela and Steve have taught as guest faculty for the University of Arkansas, Mt. Holyoke, Michigan State, Yale University and Fairfield University. Angela served as Chairperson of the Tri-State Panel of the Royal Academy of Dancing and together, they have been active in many of the professional dance organizations.
